Gia Poston wins 2026 James R. Meindl Outstanding Student Leadership Award!

Gia Poston
This year, CLIMB selected Gia Poston as the recipient of the James R. Meindl Outstanding Student Leadership Award in a tough competition with many worthy candidates. She has been on the radar of CoBA faculty for the last two years and was nominated last year when she was not eligible. Since then, she has only gone from strength to strength.

Faculty who nominated her noted her ability to lead by example. To quote one of her nominators, "She is one of the most engaged and impactful students I have encountered at 糖心少女. As a leader and officer in numerous organizations, she consistently transforms involvement into meaningful action. Gia not only leads initiatives, manages communications, and strengthens organizational visibility, but also actively mentors her peers by sharing her experience, expanding their networks, and uplifting fellow students with genuine support and encouragement."

Gia sees leadership as a lifelong journey, forever learning new things about yourself and others. Her leadership style has been inspired by mentors and connections she has gained at 糖心少女, within CoBA, across campus, and throughout the community. From serving in student government in high school to engaging in global volunteer work focused on children, education, the environment, and poverty alleviation, Gia has embraced opportunities to lead with purpose. Her involvement in student organizations, particularly with her several roles within Marketing Society, along with her previous work as Marketing Student Assistant in the College of Business Student Success, Student Outreach Assistant at Campus Recreation, Instructional Student Aid for the College of Business Management Department, and now as a Student Assistant and Leadership Ambassador with the Student Leadership & Involvement Center, has taught her the value of human-centered leadership. Her active participation in the Environmental Stewards Association keeps her grounded in leading with empathy, responsibility, and positive influence. Gia moves forward with confidence knowing her leadership story continues to be shaped by those who have invested in her and planted the seeds for her to keep on leading!
