University Technology Advisory Council
Charge
The University Technology Advisory Council (UTAC) serves as the primary advisory body
to the Chief Information Officer (CIO) and the President's Administrative Team (PAT)
on matters related to campus technology priorities, strategy, policy, and practice.
UTAC provides a collaborative and consultative space where students, faculty, and
staff can help shape the university鈥檚 technology future.
UTAC's primary responsibilities include
- Advises on the planning, development, implementation, and evaluation of campus technology
initiatives.
- Serves as a bridge for two-way communication between Instructional & Information Technology
Services (IITS) and the campus community, with committee members serving as advisors
and ambassadors, both gathering and disseminating insights from/to their campus constituents.
- Consults on policies, standards, and protocols related to technology and digital services.
- Identifies and elevates emerging needs, innovations, and concerns from all areas of
the university.
- Forms subcommittees or task forces as needed to address specialized areas such as
data governance, academic innovation, AI, accessibility, and digital equity.

Meetings and Operations
- UTAC meets monthly during the academic year or as needed.
- Recommendations are made through consensus or majority vote, depending on scope.
- Subcommittee may include UTAC and non-UTAC members to ensure agility and expertise.
