Welcome to your passport to CHRS, ÌÇÐÄÉÙŮ’s journey toward a more connected, streamlined HR experience.
The Common Human Resources System (CHRS) is a single Human Resources data management system that will serve all 23 California State University campuses and the Chancellor’s Office. CHRS is built on PeopleSoft 9.2, enhanced with CSU-specific improvements to support shared processes and consistent data across the system. These modifications have been designed by experts from all the CSUs, and are being built by the Chancellor’s Office.

By implementing CHRS on all 23 university campuses, our goals are to:
- Create a sustainable HR system environment (the current one is not supported)
- Consolidate all individual CSU campus HR databases into a single, centrally managed database
- Implement PeopleSoft HR 9.2 built on the single platform
- Implement common HR business practices and processes which result in systemwide efficiencies and cost savings
- Enhance functionality of the HR business system environment
- Provide enhanced functionality for Faculty Affairs for all campuses
- Reduce the number of HR application modifications
- Deliver common data elements systemwide​
- Establish a systemwide data governance model
- Implement a centrally developed and maintained systemwide HR reporting environment ​

In general:
- All universities will have to modify ​business processes​
- Many job responsibilities will change
- Campuses with distributed HR processing will experience a greater impact
- While some campuses will gain functionality and tools immediately, larger campuses with modified software will reap benefits from continuous releases and enhancements
