Maker Tech Academy

Maker Tech Academy combines creativity, engineering, and technology into an immersive learning experience. Students produce one-of-a-kind creations, and the confidence using tools and skills that power modern innovation.

Our first Maker Tech Academy afterschool program launches this March with an exciting themed experience called Build-A-Wand, where students in grades 5 through 8 will design, code, and build their own interactive creation from the ground up. During this four-week experience, students will step into the role of engineers and designers as they create a fully functional, take home wand with lights and sounds that respond to programming. Participants will learn:

• • Coding and microcontroller programming
  • 3D design and printing
  • Electronics and circuitry
  • Engineering design and prototyping
  • Creative problem solving through hands-on making

Maker Tech Academy is led by trained undergraduate STEM majors who bring expertise, and mentorship to every session. Students gain exposure to real world technical skills while learning in a supportive, collaborative environment. This program is ideal for students who love building and creating, are curious about coding or engineering, and enjoy hands on learning. **No prior coding experience is required.
