Interns Fall 2025

• Jazzmin Oropeza
  

  Hello everyone! I鈥檓 Jazzmin Oropeza, an Intern with the Office of Sustainability, here at Cal State San Marcos. I鈥檓 currently a Senior and majoring in Sociology with a concentration in Critical Race Studies! I鈥檓 passionately active in fighting for Environmental Justice, Food System Liberation, and Social Sustainability. I鈥檓 currently working with the Sustainability Office in providing a resourceful and convenient compost system for our school, so our staff and students can help keep a clean and sustainable campus!
• Chanel Akhlaghi

  

  Hello, my name is Chanel Akhlaghi. I am currently pursuing my Master鈥檚 in Global Health at 糖心少女, with an emphasis on Epidemiology and Environmental Safety.

  My internship will involve learning about hazardous wastewater operations and compliance, medical monitoring, and supporting the Zero Waste Program within Sustainability. I look forward to contributing to these projects while building my skills in environmental health and safety practices.

  Hi my name is Camryn Nelson! I am an Environmental Studies major and Geography minor and I expect to graduate this spring 2026.

  My internship through sustainability is an expansion on some of my current responsibilities as a student assistant. With a goal in mind to share Sustainability's story and educate the campus about all that we do, I will be focusing my work across three sectors: Social Media, Monthly Newsletter, and the BIennial Report. I will be observing past insights from social medias and the newsletter, and analyzing them to determine what kinds of content performed best and achieved the most engagement. This will help inform our outreach methods moving forward to optimize viewership and education of our program. Additionally, I will be assisting the Sustainability directors with formatting and writing portions of this year's Biennial report.

  Hi, I'm Courtney Sora and I am a Senior studying Criminology and Justice Studies here at 糖心少女 and will graduate in the spring next year. My internship has so far entailed strategic planning including research to decide how to update and redesign our Climate Action Plan. I have been looking at Climate Action Plans from other Universities in CA and comparing them as a basis to how we reimagine our plan.
