Advising Drop-ins: Quick Guide
  • Start by enrolling on your own using recommended courses and resources. Many students can complete this step independently.
  • Use drop-in advising when you need help, such as enrollment issues, questions about requirements, or unexpected problems.
  • Expect longer wait times.
  • For the best support and shorter wait times, attend drop-ins on or near your enrollment date. Virtual drop-ins are the fastest option.
  • Already enrolled? You likely don鈥檛 need drop-ins. Review your Degree Planner and reach out if new questions come up.
  • Reminder: Advisors see the same course availability you do. Enroll in what鈥檚 open now and adjust later. You鈥檒l have time over the summer.
  • Need help enrolling? Watch our quick guide:

Guidelines & Signing-in

Drop-in Advising is available to matriculated undergraduate students for 1:1 academic advising on general degree requirement information, schedule verification or issues, registration questions, etc. They can be conducted in-person, virtually via MS Teams, or by phone. We offer Drop-ins during the add/drop period (first two weeks of the fall and spring semesters) and during enrollment periods (usually April and November).

  • Drop-in Guidelines

Format: Drop-ins can be conducted in person, by phone, or virtually via Microsoft Teams. Virtual and phone sessions often have shorter wait times. See "How to Sign In..." for details on using Microsoft Teams.

Check-in: Students may sign in up to one hour before the start of Drop-in Advising (8:00 a.m. and 12:30 p.m.) either online using the Virtual Sign-in Sheet or in person at ADMIN 1300.

Appointments: No appointment is necessary. Scheduled appointments are not available during Drop-in periods.

Process: Students are seen one-on-one, first-come, first-served, by major.

Capacity: Due to high demand, Drop-in Advising may close early or close specific majors early. The first week is typically the busiest.

Timing: To reduce wait times, attend as close to your assigned enrollment date as possible.

Duration: Sessions generally last up to 15 minutes. For longer discussions, please schedule an appointment outside of Drop-in periods.

Note: Drop-in hours are subject to change.
