Inclusive Excellence

Inclusive excellence means that knowledge, mastery, achievement, and success are distributed equitably across the university, ensuring that diversity and inclusion are systematically leveraged to catalyze student learning, social justice, educational excellence and institutional excellence. Equity requires us to continue to work towards full access and success for all—across multiple dimensions of diversity—by identifying and eliminating barriers, preventing bias and discrimination, and providing multiple and inclusive pathways to success. In an inclusive organization, differences are valued as a source of learning and collective growth.

Campus Climate @ ��Ů

A campus-wide climate assessment effort involving the administration of campus climate surveys using the Diverse Learning Environments (DLE) and Viewfinder survey.

Beyond the Stereotype

The purpose of the campaign is to challenge stereotypes around religions, faith, spirituality, and/or life practices within a social justice framework.

Faculty Staff Associations (FSAs)

The Office of Inclusive Excellence considers it a priority to support the meaningful work of the various Faculty/Staff Associations (FSAs).

Meet the Chief Diversity Officer

Dr. Aswad Allen, California State University San Marcos' Chief Diversity Officer, has more than 30 years of experience collaboratively leading various universities toward achieving student success and institutional effectiveness.

Dr. Allen has used a partner-leader philosophy to strategically incorporate diversity, equity, and inclusion in order to better serve students, staff, faculty, and alumni for more than two decades.

Dr. Allen’s desire to provide leadership in developing and implementing strategic, systemic, and sustainable models designed to promote social mobility and success for our most marginalized populations continues to fuel his work.
