Emergency Food Resources
CalFresh, formerly known as food stamps, can add to your food budget to put healthy and nutritious food on the table. The program issues monthly electronic benefits that can be used to buy most foods at many markets and food stores. The San Diego Food Bank Super Pantry program provides expanded, consistent food assistance through strategic hubs offering fresh produce, proteins, and pantry staples. These locations feature both drive-thru and walk-up services, often providing additional resources like diapers. They serve as key, accessible community support centers across the county. The Emergency Food Assistance Program (EFAP or TEFAP) is a USDA program which works to improve the health of low-income families by supplementing their diets with nutritious foods. The Food Bank administers the program and distributes USDA-provided food to more than 90,000 individuals at 70 distribution sites every month throughout San Diego County. Participants in the program can receive food once a month from an EFAP distribution site.
The Neighborhood Distribution Program distributes food to thousands of individuals and families once a month at more than 30 different sites throughout San Diego County. Distributions take place in parking lots, most of them offer drive-thru and walk-up service. The majority of the food distributed consists of fresh fruits and vegetables which is part of the Food Bank鈥檚 Nutrition Initiative to provide healthy, nutrient-rich food to our clients.

Receiving CalFresh benefits and lost power for 4 hours or more? You may be entitled to replacement befits to cover costs of food lost. Contact and County office or contact the San Diego Food Bank for CalFresh Outreach staff to support. Claim must be filed within 10 days of power outage.
