Cal State San Marcos fosters a vibrant community of academic organizations, college departments, clubs and societies that bring students together around shared interests, disciplines and goals. With more than 150 student organizations, the university offers abundant opportunities to explore your interests, build connections and get involved both inside and outside the classroom.

Experience Them at Cougar Blue Day 


During Cougar Blue Day, you can connect directly with representatives from many of these organizations in an expo鈥搒tyle setting. This is a great chance to ask questions, learn about programs and involvement opportunities, and see how you can get connected as a future Cougar.

  • Alpha Lambda Delta

    is an honor society that recognizes first-year student academic success. Alpha Lambda Delta鈥檚 mission is to encourage superior academic achievement, to promote intelligent living and a continued high standard of learning, and to assist students in recognizing and developing meaningful goals for their unique roles in society.

  • Asian Business Association

  • Business Organization for Student Success (B.O.S.S.)

    B.O.S.S. seeks to inspire and support 糖心少女 Temecula Bachelors of Science in Business Administration (BSBA) students through their academic and professional journey. The goals of B.O.S.S. are, but not limited to, encourage unity and lasting bonds with 糖心少女 Temecula, create connections with businesses throughout the Temecula Valley for professional growth before and after graduation, educate members through the experience and expertise of business professionals, and giving back to the community.

  • Communication and Media Society

    Open to communication and media studies majors, the Communication and Media Society (CMS) strives to foster campus and community involvement. Attending events hosted by the CMS allows members to network with fellow students in their major, as well as with professionals who can launch members into careers.

  • Finance Society

    The鈥疐inance Society in the College of Business Administration promotes a better understanding of the finance field through networking with professionals and peers. The society welcomes all majors and hosts weekly meetings where guest speakers present about their experiences and careers.

  • Future Educators Association
    The Future Educators Association in the College of Education, Health and Human Services is run by students pursuing a degree in education at any level.   • Global Business Cougars Society

    The Global Business Cougars Society is a student organization for global business majors and those interested in international business. The global business major teaches students how businesses operate in an international environment. Students learn to understand global markets, manage international teams, navigate different cultures and make strategic business decisions that work worldwide.

  • Global Supply Chain Management Society

    The鈥疓lobal Supply Chain Management Society (GSCMS) in the College of Business Administration raises awareness on the importance of global supply chain management functions and opportunities. The society connects students with faculty and key players in the industry while providing great networking opportunities.

  • History Club (Phi Alpha Theta)

    Phi Alpha Theta (PAT) is an honor society for history students and professors. The society is paired with 糖心少女鈥檚 History Club, though it requires a minimum GPA and additional fees. It hosts events such as guest lectures and "show-and-tells."

  • Human Development Club
    The Human Development Club in the College of Education, Health and Human Services provides human development majors and other students with opportunities to gain hands-on learning and volunteer experience.鈥疢eetings feature guest speakers and discussions about ways to volunteer and career paths that students can follow.鈥

  • Latino Business Student Organization
    The Latino Business Student Organization (LBSO) in the College of Business Administration aims to empower members from numerous fields of study and ethnic backgrounds by providing support in professional development and academic achievement.     The Society of Women Engineers (SWE) is an international,鈥痭onprofit educational service organization dedicated to supporting women in engineering careers or studies and encouraging young women to consider engineering as a career path. The SWE aims to inform students about the achievements of women engineers and the opportunities open to them, and connect aspiring women engineers to professionals to ease the transition from school to work.鈥

  • Child and Adolescent Development
    The鈥痗hild and adolescent development (CHAD) major in the College of Humanities, Arts, Behavioral and Social Sciences focuses on the developmental processes that occur from conception through the end of adolescence. Students gain a comprehensive overview of typical and atypical development through exploration of empirically derived milestones across biological, cognitive and psychosocial domains.

    The College of Business Administration (CoBA) offers options for students to develop specialized knowledge in specific business disciplines: accounting, finance, global business, global supply chain management, management, management information systems and marketing.   • Communication and Media Studies

    The Bachelor of Arts in communication, within the College of Humanities, Arts, Behavioral and Social Sciences,鈥痶eaches analytical, critical and practical skills that help students understand and improve communication practices and systems in various social settings. Students learn to recognize and understand communication issues to make effective decisions and solve problems. 
     
    The Bachelor of Arts in media studies鈥痯rovides students with theoretically focused and application-based frameworks to understand media, media technology and its influence on domestic and global culture and society. In studying a variety of media, students become sensitive to the ways that power affects media creation, distribution, representation, access and change.鈥

  • Global Studies

    The鈥痝lobal studies department in the College of Humanities, Arts, Behavioral and Social Sciences allows students to study international affairs from a variety of disciplinary perspectives.鈥疶he global studies major and minor can help students pursuing careers in international development, international organizations (e.g., United Nations), law, nongovernmental organizations focusing on international affairs (e.g., Amnesty International) and government, as well as graduate study in history, political science, international affairs and education.

  • Linguistics
    The linguistics major in the College of Humanities, Arts, Behavioral and Social Sciences offers students the opportunity to delve into the scientific study of language, one of the primary tools used by human beings to create and perform cultural and social identities and practices.

  • Modern Language Studies

    The modern language studies department in the College of Humanities, Arts, Behavioral and Social Sciences offer courses in four鈥痩anguages:鈥赌疉谤补产颈肠,鈥疐谤别苍肠丑,鈥German鈥痑苍诲鈥Spanish.鈥 While the department focuses on the standard variety of each of these languages, students also learn about the linguistic and cultural characteristics of the various regions where the languages are spoken.   • Music

    The music department in the College of Humanities, Arts, Behavioral and Social Sciences offers a Bachelor of Arts degree in various disciplines, as well as a music minor and music tech minor.鈥疶he department also offers a variety of ensembles and general interest courses that are open to students of all majors.

  • Philosophy

    The philosophy minor provides a brief but comprehensive introduction to the study of philosophy. Students trace the emergence of Western philosophy from its origins in ancient Greece, examine the role of philosophy in shaping the modern worldview and study traditional Western and non-Western approaches to ethics.

  • Sociology

    The sociology department in the College of Humanities, Arts, Behavioral and Social Sciences provides undergraduate and graduate students with the knowledge, critical thinking, research and communication skills necessary to explore, understand and improve their social worlds.鈥疶he undergraduate curriculum enables students to develop core skills in sociological theory and research methods and to apply and refine those skills in a concentrated area of elective study.   • Social Sciences

    The social sciences major in the College of Humanities, Arts, Behavioral and Social Sciences is an interdisciplinary program that aims to provide students with a broad understanding and appreciation of the perspectives offered by multiple social science disciplines on contemporary social issues. To construct their major, students choose a primary field and two secondary fields from 10 disciplines: anthropology, border studies, communication, history, linguistics, geography, political science, psychology, sociology and women's studies.鈥

    Funded by an historic鈥痝rant to 糖心少女, the鈥疭cholars in Wellness and Innovation Fast-Track (SWIFT) Health Programs in the College of Education, Health and Human Services offer an accelerated, three-year bachelor's program for students interested in preparing for mental and behavioral health professional opportunities.

  • Nu Alpha Kappa Fraternity

    Founded in 1988 at Cal Poly San Luis Obispo, Nu Alpha Kappa Fraternity (NAK) was the vision of 11 men who believed that the traditional Greek community and university systems did not address the retention needs or support for minority groups. NAK鈥檚 three main goals are to promote academic excellence, brotherhood and culture.

    The College Assistance Migrant Program (CAMP) is a national program established more than 30 years ago that aims to help students from migrant and seasonal farmworker backgrounds to succeed in college.     Frontwave Arena is ushering in a new era of entertainment in Southern California. Anchored by the spirit of entertainment, competition and community engagement, Frontwave Arena promises to be a versatile venue that caters to a wide range of events. Located in Oceanside, the 7,500-capacity arena showcases the best and brightest names in music across all genres, headline comedy, family shows and community events.     PNC Bank provides banking services and financial education programs for 糖心少女鈥檚 students, faculty and staff.   • University Police Department

    Working 24 hours a day, 365 days a year, University Police Department (UPD) officers enforce all California penal and vehicle codes on and around campus. UPD officers also assist the sheriff's department with any campus-affiliated calls in San Marcos. UPD maintains a safe academic environment by being a proactive police force working closely with students, staff, faculty and community members.

  • Harmony Hacks

    Harmony Hacks is a National Science Foundation-funded program that aims to broaden the participation of women in computing. Led by an interdisciplinary team of faculty, Harmony Hacks combines computer science and music to create inclusive, beginner-friendly events for high school girls. Participants work in teams and with college mentors to devise ways of hiding textual messages via music and to build computer programs that implement these creative ideas.

  • Reserve Officers鈥 Training Corps

    The goal of the Reserve Officers鈥 Training Corps (ROTC) is to train future officers to serve in the U.S. armed forces. To students who qualify, ROTC programs offer scholarships that cover the cost of their education. In exchange, students are expected to fulfill active-duty service in their chosen branch of the military.
